HydroBond Engineering offers a comprehensive range of services to the marine renewables sector. They have extensive experience in the design of electrical connection systems tailor made to the customer’s specific requirements.
Previous projects have included the following design solutions
Subsea junction/splice boxes, to provide connection between the umbilical from the energy converter to the seabed cable that sends the electrical energy back to shore. Each box is dry internally and is designed to house high voltage (power) splices, low voltage (signal) splices and fibre optic splices.
Water blocked electrical and fibre optic penetrators into wave/tidal energy converters
Umbilical cable design containing power, signal and fibre optic bundles - rated up to 11kv and 16 fibre optic lines.
Mechanical armour terminations for both seabed and umbilical cables
Self flooding adaptor spools to attach self flooding umbilical’s to the energy converter. |

Every HydroBond design is verified and validated before despatch using their own in-house hydrostatic pressure vessels and gas testing facilities. Pressure tests include – pressure holds and pressure cycling, functionality (electrically and optically) can be tested at pressure
HydroBond have successfully managed a number of projects for the marine renewables sector, from initial concepts right through to site installation.
