C200 Encapsulation Polyurethane
|
The C200 Encapsulating Rubber which Hydro Bond use for moulding cable splices and overmoulding connector housings etc. is a polyetherurethane rubber. This particular material is heat cured with a diamine based compound to form a polyetherurethane rubber with outstanding physical properties.
C200 should not be confused with cold setting and hot setting polyester based urethanes since these materials have vastly inferior water resistant properties.
The C200 rubber has excellent water and oil resistant properties. The long term water resistance of C200 has been fully investigated over a period of 10 years and these results (see below) show that the material does not appreciably degrade. In addition, our company has first hand practical knowledge of the successful use of C200 in Subsea applications over the past 25 years!
Hydro Bond specialize in chemically bonding the C200 rubber to metals and other elastomers. We can bond to most conventional cable sheath material e.g. Neoprene, Hytrel, Nitrile, Polyurethane, Hypalon, EPR etc |
